I just heard of a really cool idea from Funding Universe. They will be holding an American Idol type contest in which they decide who is worthy of their money. The idea is that people come and present their investment ideas, and the winner gets money to implement their ideas. Angel investors will help the genius push their dream forward. I missed this opportunity. My mother in law would have been very excited by the prospect of this.

I’m wondering how this would be pulled off American Idol style. I’m assuming that Funding Universe are the ones to vote and the vote is not left up to the audience. Anyway, it sounds like a fun promotion.
It’s like an opportunity to be a contestant on “The Shark” but instead of floating an idea for a new product, you get the float an idea for investment strategy.

I know a friend who used this service. Solid stuff. Doesn’t work well for ‘big time’ type projects – they generally only manage investing on smaller projects. Still it is worth pursuing if you need funding.
