IKEA Tempe

tempe real estateThis week’s featured business is IKEA. Normally I don’t like to feature corporations, but IKEA is a very big employer in Tempe. Also, they’ve sponsored multiple Tempe Chamber events, so they help little guys like the mom & pop stores, too.

  • What they do: Combining a tremendous variety of styles with 10,000 exclusively-designed product choices – ranging from sofas, bookcases, kitchens and kitchen appliances to beds, mattresses, office furniture and textiles – IKEA Tempe offers visitors affordable solutions for every room in the home. When factoring in color and sizes, we feature more than 80,000 different possibilities. To help shoppers with ideas and inspiration for creating the home of their dreams, our unique IKEA shopping experience includes individual room-settings and complete home displays depicting various “life situations” — from a single mother and her daughter to a couple moving in together. Visitors can enjoy Swedish meals such as meatballs and salmon at the IKEA Tempe Restaurant and Café or have a hot dog, frozen yogurt or cinnamon bun from the Bistro near the exit of the store.  Also, our Swedish Foodmarket features specialty foods to take home.

  • Why they got started in it: Ingvar Kamprad founded IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retail company, in 1943. The name IKEA comes from Ingvar Kamprad, who grew up on a farm called Elmtaryd in the parish Agunnaryd in southern Sweden.  There are 37 U.S. and 11 Canadian IKEA stores.

  • Who they serve: The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. Our business idea is to offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishings at prices so low that as many people as possible can afford them.

  • Discounts/opportunities for people that come from this site: They are offering free chair massages available on a first-come, first-served basis on July 24 and 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the bedrooms department. For more details, visit www.IKEA-USA.com/tempe!

  1. I love IKEA, Im Swedish and grow up with IKEA for over 40 years; my frist room in my parent house, my univesity room, my first apartment, my house, IKEA lover forever.

  2. Another IKEA lover here! What a fabulous concept, and one that has proven to work very well. I see IKEA’s influence in many other stores in my area.

  3. i’m a huge IKEA fan! Every room in our house looks like an IKEA showroom. You can get some quality furniture from there, it’s looks neat, it’s easy to put together and it looks great. I would like to see better storage ideas from them though, they have some very expensive boxes and they’ve started to offer more storage options but it all comes with their expensive wardrobes and if you don’t need a wardrobe it’s not a lot of good.

  4. Insulation says:

IKEA is fantastic but impossible to go and not spend double what you intended! I have to leave my credit card at home if I go to ensure I don’t end up kitting out my house…again!

  5. David says:

IKEA is a great thing for home buyers, especially the first-timers. They end up spending so much of their savings that they sometimes forget about furnishing their new home. With IKEA you can do the furnishings for a fraction of the cost compared to other furniture stores and they look very presentable. I definitely recommend IKEA to all. Great highlight for your local business.

  6. Trust Deeds says:

I like IKEA; their products are always reasonably priced although their customer service is nothing that much to shout about. Finding parking is tough – usually. Cos there are so many people at any given time shopping there. But their furniture is A1 class.

  7. I like Ikea- they try very hard to be eco-friendly from their product line to their shipping methods. Cute post!
